Kwessi Dunes is a Sossusvlei safari camp located deep in Namibia’s striking NamibRand Nature Reserve, a vast desert wilderness of over 200,000 hectares. At Kwessi Dunes, you’ll discover 12 comfortable, air-conditioned chalets with canvas walls and thatched roofs. Each bedroom includes a separate ‘star gazer’ room, providing an open view of the sky—a perfect spot for observing the celestial theatre above. Enjoy breathtaking views of the vast desert landscapes from the rooms, the main area, and the refreshing swimming pool. Immerse yourself in various activities, including quad biking, scenic drives, walks, hot air ballooning, helicopter flights, horse riding, and day trips to Sossusvlei.
The two family rooms at Kwessi Dunes boast a spacious layout, featuring a king-sized bed along with two single beds suitable for accommodating two children. A shared bathroom adds convenience, complemented by an outdoor shower for a unique bathing experience. Enjoy the comfort of air-conditioning within the chalet, and for a touch of enchantment, the ‘star gazer’ room is open to the sky, allowing you to immerse yourself in the celestial panorama.
The twin tents provide a comfortable retreat with two 3/4 beds, convertible as needed. Each chalet features en-suite bathrooms equipped with both indoor and outdoor showers. Enjoy the convenience of air-conditioning within the chalet, and for a celestial experience, the open-air ‘star gazer’ room invites you to gaze at the night sky.
Enjoy a morning or afternoon drive through the iconic red dunes of the NamibRand Nature Reserve during your stay at Kwessi Dunes. While it might not be a big 5 reserve, keep your eyes peeled for gemsbok, bat-eared foxes, black backed jackals, African wild cats and the iconic Oryx who all call the reserve home.
Did you know that the NamibRand is a registered dark sky reserve? Meaning you can enjoy probably the best stargazing in the world. With this in mind each chalet at Kwessi Dunes has a “Stargazing” extension, right of your bedroom. Giving you the chance not only to enjoy the show evolve above your head but also to decide if you want to sleep inside or out.
